The Clairestone Inn (formerly LaAuberge Acadienne Inn) on the Beautiful Island of Isle Madame will open for Business in June.

The Clairestone Inn in Arichat, Richmond County, Cape Breton
New chapter begins for La Auberge Acadienne Inn in Arichat. The Inn came under new ownership in February when Shauna Landry former resident of Arichat moved her family back home to take over this lovely Acadian Inn. The 17 unit Inn which has gone under massive renovations, will now be known as the Clairestone Inn.

Owner Shauna Landry who is also the founder of City Girl Cakes in Halifax, said the move was prompted by a desire to return home after the death of her mother Claire, after whom the inn has been named. Landry wanted to return to roots, become her own boss. She states that she always had a love for the Inn and had a dream of one day owning it. She felt she could revitalise the Inn and make it an important part of the Acadian Community and an important part of our tourism Industry offering a beautiful location for visitors to the island. The Clairestone Inn will offer a friendly and home like setting for those travelling in Richmond. Landry is in the process of obtaining the liquor licence for the bar, and she plans to open it with a pub-style menu, and she will be offering guests the option of a hot or buffet style breakfast.

The new owner noted that one demographic she wants to specifically market the Clairestone Inn towards are motorcycle riders. Landry wants to offer visitors a place where they feel relaxed and at home. Landry who enjoys riding her motorcycle plans on doing some marketing directly towards motorcycle riders. They are a great group of people and I think there’s a lot of potential in tourism through motorcycle riders.”

The Inn is located on a French Island so it is an advantage because we’re bilingual, which she hopes will draw a the high number of visitors from Quebec who frequent the area, as well as visitors from across Canada and the US and Europe. Apart from a unique culture, another advantage of the area lies in its natural beauty, which Landry added she now appreciates much more at this stage of her life.

Isle Madame is an amazing place for kayaking, bicycling, motorcycle riding, getting away from the chaos of everyday life, t’s so quiet, and the people are friendly.  There are places to eat and during the summer there is lots to do, music, and festivals to enjoy.

Play and Stay Cafe The Only Indoor Playground in Richmond County, N.S, Come Check It Out!!!!

If you are looking for a perfect place to have a play date for your child, birthday party or to celebrate a family gathering, look no further than the Play and Stay Café in the Louisdale Industrial Park. I attended my grandson’s birthday party there on Sunday and the little ones had a blast. If your kids enjoy bouncing, climbing, rolling in a ball pit and just having an all round great time this is the place for them. The site is amazing, clean, well maintained, lots of parking, with lots of space for the kids to play inside.

Expecting visitors this summer who have small children, and you are wondering what to do with them if the weather is wet, the Play and Stay Café would be an ideal location for an indoor activity. Just give the staff of the Play and Stay Cafe 24 hours notice and parents and kids can enjoy the space. Below you will find out some information about this family friendly facility, a supper addition to the Richmond County area.

Located at 12 Industrial Park Road in Louisdale the Stay and Play Café, Richmond County's only indoor playground, was launched on August 1, 2016 and offers a fun, safe environment for children to play and socialize with peers in a climate controlled, indoor playground that offers a safe, secure environment for children and their caregivers to play, connect, and discover together. The facility boasts a 1250 square foot play space with sections for infants/toddlers and older children up to age 10. There is also a small lounge area for parents where they can enjoy a coffee or tea and free Wi-Fi.

The Stay and Play Café is now open only by appointments  for play dates and private rentals including events such as birthday parties, Private play dates and family gatherings and movie nights etc., for children aged 1year to 12 years in age.

The Café is currently operating Play Dates and Rentals by appointment only. To book a date for your play date and have your child join in the fun, it is easy. Give management at least 24 hours notice and tell them the day and time you'd like to come.  They will create a Facebook event for the Play Date so you can join and if you'd like, invite some friends. They will post the event as being open to the public. They do not need a minimum number of children to start a Play Date, you can start with just one child, because it is a public event that people can respond to, there is a better chance your child will have a bunch of friends to play which is always more fun to play. For a 3 hour Play Date the cost is $10 per child, plus taxes.  They offer a family discount for siblings which is $10 for the first child and $5 for each additional child, plus taxes. Message them on their Facebook or call to book a Play Date now! Operating hours are subject to change without notice, depending on bookings for rentals, special events, etc. For information on how to initiate a play group or for information on prices, availability and rules for rentals for private play dates, birthday parties, family gatherings, play groups sessions, movie nights, gaming night, or for a laser tag event go to their website www.playandstaycafe.ca/ or email them at info@playandstaycafe.ca or Call Tyler Shea Owner/Operator of the Stay and Play Café at (902) 345-2624.

In Expedia Travel Survey, Cape Breton Island Was Picked As Number One Island Destination In The World To Visit

Cape Breton Island is my home and place of work, and I love it, I was born here, went to school here, got married and brought my family up here and there is no other place in the world I would rather be.  So when I came across this post on my facebook page today, I thought yes, more  accolades for our amazing island. For me it was not a great surprise to see that people are talking about Cape Breton as a destination location, as I hear just that on a daily basis during the tourism season from visitors travelling through the Visitor Information Centre. Visitors love Cape Breton. There is so much to see and do here for people of all ages.
Here is a link to the story from the Halifax Chronicle Herald about the article, written by Jennifer Cueller in a travel blog, where Cape Breton was chosen the No. 1 travel destination of 2018.
