Check This Out: Hot off the press from Right Some Good...

Foodie adventure debuts in Halifax

This summer, for the first-time ever, the ultimate foodie adventure will be in both Halifax and on Cape Breton Island. We’re kicking off in Halifax on June 27 to June 29. Then moving to Cape Breton Island for events from July 3 to July 5.

We want you to be the first to know about the locations and master chefs for our events in Halifax.

Our first pop-up dinner on June 27, will be held at the Stradacona Drill Shed. For one night only, Michelin-Star Chef Cristina Bowerman from Rome, Italy, will help transform the artillery space into a fine-dining restaurant.

On June 28, find yourself seated on the helicopter deck of the HMCS Preserver for the first-ever pop-up dinner on a navy ship. Dine dockside while enjoying one of New York's finest chefs, Ed Cotton’s innovative culinary twists. A great way to soak up Halifax city views.

On June 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. the Gourmet Street Fair  will ‘literally’ hit the streets of Halifax and for the first-time in almost 15 years, Spring Garden Road will be transformed into a one-day open-air pedestrian culinary extravaganza!

Open to all ages, admission to the Gourmet Street Fair is free. For a taste of the foodie adventure, food and drink tickets will be sold on site. The day will offer gourmet street food, a Sociable! area for 19 years of age and older, a culinary stage - where six different competitions, including 12 master chefs travelling from across Canada, the United States and the Caribbean - will compete live in black box events, and a music stage featuring exciting local acts. The day will be complete with shopping promotions along Spring Garden Road.

Hosted by The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites, the 12 chefs competing in the Garland Canada Master Chef Face Off include:

  • Chef Anthony Susi (New York, USA)
  • Chef Darin Schnert (Savannah, USA), competitor
  • Chef Heather Feher (Boston, USA)

The Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort Offers a Last Minute May Long Weekend Event- Don't Miss It!

Received this information from the Cabot Shores Resort, and it looks really interesting, so I am passing it along. For a great time, check it out.

Here at Cabot Shores, we had a great winter, because we love snowshoeing and snow, but are quite ready for spring and wanted to invite you (JUST IN CASE YOU DON'T HAVE OTHER PLANS) to what we are calling:
 EMAIL ONLY OFFER:
Last Minute May Long Weekend
Who?
This is for families, couples, solo travellers and pet-friendly folks.
What?
A number of families (with and without kids) are doing a Yoga Retreat. But we've gotten requests from couples that want to join in or simply have some time away from home (whether from the city or just to enjoy the long weekend):

• Enjoy a Ceilidh with lefty Cape Breton fiddler & step dancer, Katie MacLeod, as she plays, teaches and jam
• The Bistro is open with early lobster, seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes.
• The Pond is already touched by kayaks, canoes and soon yolo boards.
• And of course, there is the fantastic hiking.
• Ask about our cedar soaking tub, hot tub and infrared sauna
Why?
We've all been cooped up too long (even our chickens are returning to their spring digs). Kick off the summer season right!

Last Minute All-Inclusive Offer:
 Adventure Getaway:
• 2 nights lodging
• 2 meals a day
• guided hike
• half day canoe or kayak
• Saturday night Ceilidh featuring fiddler, Katie MacLeod
$95 a person per day – Based on double occupancy
Plus alcohol, tax, and gratuity
