One of Cape Breton's Most Asked For Menu Items.


Cape Breton Fish Chowder

 
Ingredients: 4 cans of clams drained (but save the water to be added later)

1 bag of chowder mix or(  2 cups each of diced haddock, shrimp and scallops or lobster)

3 large onions chopped
2 carrots peeled, boiled and finely chopped

6 peeled potatoes, boiled and diced.

2 cans of carnation milk (not the reduced fat style)

Pepper and salt to taste. 

In a fry pan fry add butter along with your clams, and fish mixture and onions and cook until done. Cook your carrots until tender and finely chop, then boil your potatoes when cooked drain and dice add to a large saucepan and add your fish mixture, the juice from the can clams, and carnation milk and pepper and salt to taste. Let simmer on low heat for 20 minutes until all the flavors have blended. Spoon the chowder into serving bowls and serve with warm out of the ovens rolls, for a delicious chowder dinner.
