Joella Foulds appointed to the Order of Canada

Congratulations to Joella Foulds, Artistic Director of the Celtic Colours International Festival.

Joella has been appointed to the Order of Canada in recognition of her accomplishments as a well-respected and dedicated leader, visionary and community volunteer, who has had a deep impact on the cultural economy of Cape Breton Island.

His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced the appointment on December 30. All 66 recipients will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.

The Order of Canada, one of our country's highest civilian honours, was established in 1967, during Canada's centennial year, to recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to community and service to the nation.

In November, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada presented Celtic Colours with the National Cultural Tourism Award.
