Festival of Trees a Success


The 2010 Festival of Trees in St. Peter's had another successful year with an attendance of approximately 600. The Community support for the festival was again high with 35 trees being entered in this years competition. The results of the visitor voting are as follows: Best Tree in the Youth under 10 years of age division went to Kendra and Kaitlyn Burke, Best Tree in the Youth 11 years old and up went to Jessie Sutherland, Best Tree in the Youth Organization went to the St. Peter's Day Care, Best Tree for Commercial/Retail went to St. Peter's Home Hardware and the Best Tree for Community Organization went to Dorothy's Pets in Need, congratulations to all partipicants and to the winners. The winners of the Festival ticket draws were: For the Lobster prize donated by Cape Breton Canso Realty-Jolene Manegre, for the Jean Quilt donated by Mrs Claus-Gladys Bona, and for the Ginger Bread House donated by Eva and Douglas Landry the winner was Karen Sampson. Congratulations to all the winners. A lot of hard work goes into organizating a festival such as this and it is only with the support of the community that the festival continues to be so successful. Congratulations to all the organizers and volunteers who work so hard and to the community for coming out to take part.
